The world’s first inland waterway tanker with a highly fuel-efficient MAN marine diesel engine
The customer decided on a MAN diesel engine for its Gulf Challenger. Together with Vink Diesel, they were looking for an engine with more engine capacity and greater fuel economy. And that is exactly what they found: the MAN D2862LE421 is an entirely new electronically-driven engine with Common Rail fuel injection. Sander Langenberg of Vink Diesel is delighted with the new ship’s diesel engine. With this engine, MAN is ready for the future.
Low emission values, very low fuel consumption, good performances and a great price: an economically sound investment for any inland waterway business. During its working life, the Gulf Challenger often sails with a capacity demand in the mid-range and it is exactly in partial load mode that this new engine’s fuel savings are highest, with extremely low consumption.
The MAN D2862LE4xx engine series complies with the EPA Tier 3 and IMO Tier 2 emission requirements with no further need for fine-tuning or external systems.
