Zoetermeer, 12 April 2019 – For DBR B.V. in Sliedrecht (NL), we were asked to deliver three MAN engines and associated SCR systems. Using these products, DBR has built three generator sets for Neptune Marine, they have been installed on a salmon delousing barge.
As the name suggests, a salmon delousing barge is used to delouse farmed salmon, without using chemicals, which makes it environmentally friendly.
MAN Rollo supplied MAN D2862LE328 engines including SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems. These engines comply with the IMO TIER III emission requirements.
The engines each generate 700 kWm at 1800 rpm. The generator sets are used to drive the pumps of the delousing system and to provide power for the accommodation facilities.
This Euro Special Purpose Pontoon was built at the Neptune Marine shipyard in Aalst (NL). The decision to use this type of MAN engine perfectly matches the environmentally friendly character of the barge. Cermaq Canada, a Canadian salmon farming company, will use the 31-metre long barge at various fish farms along the west coast of Canada.
