Together with our service partner Chaplain Energie, MAN Rollo has delivered an E2676 E302 engine to Naoden. The engine forms the core of a new heat and power plant in the community of Commune du Haut Pays du Val d’Alzette in France.
“Naoden first approached Chaplain Energie, our service partner in France,” says Yann Bertheleu, Account Manager for MAN Rollo in France. “Together with our partner, we visited Naoden to ensure we understood the needs of the project. They were looking for a wood gas engine with enough capacity to provide 90 kW electrical and 160 kW thermal energy in a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) installation. The MAN E2676 E302 engine fulfilled all of their requirements.”
Naoden processes wood waste (maximum 20% water content) to produce renewable gas, that is used to fuel the CHP. The 90 kWe energy plant is expected to produce more than 675 MWe and 1200 MWth per year, with the electricity used to power the recycling center. The heat generated will supply local greenhouses and district heating scheme, along with the drying of the wood waste used to produce the gas.
Naoden are delighted with the performance of the MAN E2676 E302 engine, fully justifying their purchase decision. They are well-aware that wood gas can be of varying quality which can have an impact on engine performance. However, the risk is limited thanks to the robustness and quality of the MAN gas engine—it fully meets their expectations. The customer was impressed by MAN Rollo’s expertise and quick response which was a significant factor in the decision to purchase the engine, along with the security of having Chaplain Energie as local service experts.
Yann Bertheleu: “The customer is happy, so we are happy. We expect to sell a MAN engine for a second plant of Naoden in the near future.”
