27 May 2016 – Last Friday, 20 May, employees of MAN Rollo, together with Total Energy Service, successfully hoisted a generator set from the roof of the Crowne Plaza hotel in Hoofddorp. The weather and the busy neighbourhood made this an interesting operation. Later that day, the generator set was in the workshop in Zoetermeer for repair.
The generator set was hoisted from a height of 30 metres from the roof of the Crowne Plaza hotel. The majority of the container was concealed in the roof, making it invisible from the street. The hotel uses the system to generate its own power.
On Monday 16 May, Crowne Plaza commissioned MAN Rollo to repair the set. The system was supplied by MAN Rollo and Topec 15 years ago and has been maintained by MAN Rollo since then. Now a defective camshaft made it impossible to repair the set on site.
The set was quickly and professionally removed from the roof. See the time lapse below:
